Last week I visited Poland from England. Being an Englishman I obviously am not familiar with the Polish language, therefore I encountered a lot of issues because of this. I needed somebody who could have translated the language, i.e. I needed a translator Polish to English, but I was helpless to find one.

The difficulties began from the first day of my visit. The hotel I was living in shockingly did not have any fluent English speaking attendants. Only a supervisor was able to speak with me. From the door keeper to the waiter, everybody Polish! Disappointed I decided to take a stroll around the hotel. While roaming, I came across a Flower dealer - lovely daffodils and adorable roses packed her flower bouquet.

I asked her about the cost of one flower bunch and the lady just kept staring at me for 5 minutes. Having already gotten used to the treatment I decided to get a young boy who could translate Polish to English. However as I said I searched, but could not locate one. The tour thus had this sort of incidences all the while.

Luckily my job was not of speaking with the Polish people a lot, so I was able to focus on my work. Occasionally such events occurred to amuse me, that people are so reluctant to learn the worldwide language. You may say that was true patriotism, but in the search of true patriotism they lost some foreign currency which could have had some influence on the economy!

But I was additionally ignorant to go into a foreign language country not understanding anything about them. Now that I have came back, I am studying the Polish language - at least partially. Lastly as they say in Polish - pozegnanie. (I used a translation Polish to English software program for the last statement)
