Microwaves in America and the planet have made life easier for us when making meals or warming up food or drinks. Microwave ovens have a fascinating history from the first one invented to the way it was invented.

The first microwave that was formally documented using the word microwave was in 1931 when it was described in The Telegraph and Telephone Journal. It is fascinating that a mathematics person named James Clark Maxwell was able to predict an existence of electromagnetic waves as early as 1864 using math equations. In around 1890 the first individual demonstrated the existence of electromagnetic waves by means of an UHF region.

In the 1970s they got affordable for middle-class Americans. The corporation Jenn Air was founded by a man named Louis J. Jenn. This company was started in the late 1940s. When it was established the name was Jenn-Air Products. This is a company that at first built fans for large buildings (the official name is industrial fans).

They developed into making kitchen appliances like ovens and stove ranges. After a few years the company name has become Jenn-Air. They got into making refrigerators in the 60s then microwave heating devices started to be popular and they began to build and market these up to the present day.

The founder Louis J. Jenn has a memorial park in Indianapolis, Indiana. Maytag bought Jenn-Air in the early 1980s and they are presently owned by Whirlpool corporation as of 2006. Jenn Air still makes microwave heating devices, but now those that are built into the walls and countertops are what they concentrate on.

One of the present day models being sold is the 30 inch over the range Jenn Air microwave convection oven. Convection means that it is a microwave that works as a regular microwave oven and also works as an oven type that makes food with the speed of a microwave oven but the food comes out browned as it would out of a standard oven.

Jenn Air also provides 24 and 27 inch microwaves. The 30 inch Jenn Air microwave oven is available in 5 colors. The 24 inch is an under counter model with a drawer style. These are not the cheap microwave heating devices you will see at a Walmart etc, but these are quality microwave ovens that last a lot longer and are produced with better parts.
