The public schools work well for some people, but they do not work well for me. Fundamentally, public school is an exercise in faith and futility. They don't provide you with any vocation facts until later in the game, so you have no way of being aware of that this is imperative for your life. Basically, it always seemed like a waste of time to me. I was always bored silly, sitting in the back of the classroom, & staring at the ceiling. I would behave badly, not pay attention, & fall behind on my schooling. Lots of schoolteachers thought I was stupid, but I was just bored. If they had given me some cool niche job data & told me more about things I could do with my schooling when I grew up, I might have paid more attention.

I'm a pretty typical child in most respects. I want to earn money, I wish to live a good life, & I wish to have a gorgeous wife and a nice house. Something like specialised niche career salary data could have truly gotten me interested. Regrettably, we didn't get any unusual niche jobs data til high school. By that time it was too late. In elementary and middle school, we were supposed to pay good attention simply because we were told to.

When I finally had a career placement test in ninth grade, it was already some-what later in the game. I found out that I was very interested in business and that it would make a good career for me. Unfortunately, however, I had been doing so badly in school for so long that it did not matter. My counselor said to me that I should surrender & set my goals lower, but that made me want to work harder. I looked at the career information, and I knew that I had a very long way to go, but I was willing to go there. If I had to spend a couple of years at the junior college before I could get into a university, I would do that.

Fortunately, there was some very good vocation factual information at the counseling office. I found out what I needed to know, what sort of grades I needed to get, and what my life in the future prospects were. A great thing about America is, even if you mess up the first time, you normally get a second chance. Between junior colleges and job placement services, there's always a way to advance yourself. If you get your vocation facts too late and fall behind, however, it takes a good while longer.
